A Rose By Any Other Name-Pink Friday~

I cannot imagine anyone not loving roses. I think they are the most beautiful flowers that God has created. On Friday June 26, 2009 Make Mine Pink is celebrating Pink Friday. Many of my sweet friends at Make Mine Pink will be offering rose themed products in their lovely shops. I will also have a few things to for sale. So you are cordially invited to Pink Friday as we present "A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME"

So I thought it would be nice to share this lovely poem I found online about roses..

It is only a tiny rosebud a flower of God's design; but I cannot unfold the petal with these clumsy hands of mine. The secret of unfolding flowersIs not known to such as I. GOD opens this flower so sweetly,Then in my hands they die.If I cannot unfold a rosebud,This flower of God's design,Then how can I have the wisdom To unfold this life of mine? So I'll trust in Him for leading Each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidanceEach step of the pilgrim way. The pathway that lies before meOnly my Heavenly Father knows. I'll trust Him to unfold the moments, Just as He unfolds the rose. ~

The rose at the top is my latest creation. It is a pretty pink rose shaped pincushion. Hope you like it. It's also available wholesale.

Thanks for stopping by and happy shopping!

Pink Hugs,

Janet~

My Honest Scrap Award~ I am honored!

I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends. I have received two "Honest Scrap" Awards this week. One was from Georgia of Grandma G's and one was from Lisa of Pale Pink and Roses. Georgia is such a sweet lady and very talented too. You really must take a minute or two to visit her shop. I promise it is worth it. She has the prettiest Blue Rose Hankie I have ever seen and you should see all the other pretty things she offers. Here is her shop link: http://www.makeminepink.com/boutiques/details/?store=113 And then there is sweet Lisa. Just the name of her site is already pretty. She makes the most amazing magazine holders. I made myself a promise that when I finally have my very own shabby office I will buy one from her. Can't wait! Please visit Lisa at Pale Pink and Roses Boutique
http://www.makeminepink.com/boutiques/details/?store=166

I am honored to have this award. Thank you ladies! I must now pass this fun award to 14 other sweet friends. The reason why is because when you receive this award you must list 10 honest things about yourself and then pass the award to 7 other friends. And since I have received two I must send to 14 and list 20 things about me! aaak! lol

So here goes:

1. I am married 19 years and the only time my hubby has seen me without make-up was when I gave birth to my darling daughter and darling son.

2. I always wear high heels. Even if I go to the beach. I wear high heeled sandals..lol Can't help it. I love to make my legs look longer.

3. I am very sensitive. Sometimes too sensitive I think, but I have improved as I have gotten older. Oh my gosh! Did I say older???

4. I love a cold glass of water with lots of ice so I can crunch on it. I can't seem to stop and I know it's bad for my teeth!

5. I love to read books about true crime , solving crimes and anything that has to do with forensics. I think if I would have had a choice of occupations a detective would have suited me..lol

6. I can play piano by ear.

7. I am a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do. I actually used my ability once when a man tried to grab me in the subway in New York City. I punched him and he ran. Yay! It really works..lol

8. I sing while listening to music in my car. Can you just imagine the looks I get?

9. I am not psyhic ,but I can sense things big time. Sometimes I will think of someone and they will call. Or I will think of something and it happens. I guess that's a good thing.

10. I am afraid of swimming in the ocean ever since I saw the movie "JAWS"! lol I really never did go back to the water.

11. I still watch Molly Ringwald movies. My favorite is " Pretty in Pink" and Sixteen Candles. I guess I don't mind these teen movies since it reminds me of my teen years..lol

12. I studied fashion and design at the Fashion Institute in NYC. I will never forget the day I had to sketch a naked man model. Boy was my face red..lol

13. I have a sweet tooth. Don't ever leave cookies, cake or chocolate around me..lol

14. I love to dance even though I haven't danced in ages. No wonder I was in great shape then!

15. I taught myself how to sew. Yes it's true! When I first started my business I used to sew everything by hand without a sewing machine! Boy oh boy it was hard. Now I can't live without my sewing machine!

16. I used to teach Confirmation to 12 yr. old kids with my husband at Most Precious Blood Church for 4 yrs. I was a volunteer and so was my hubby. I loved doing that and hope to do something like that again someday.

17. I once wrote to George Foreman. The man who makes grills! He wanted to know how everyone lost weight. So I told him I went up the stairs daily where I worked in New York. Mined you I worked on the 12th floor! He replied and they sent a photographer to snap shots of me on the stairs of the building. lol It felt good. My pic was in the Sunday New York News.

18. I met Tom Cruise while he filmed the movie Bartender. I think that is what it was called! lol He was as handsome as I imagined. Except now I think he is a bit weird. Sorry!

19. I love to watch anything that has to do with politics. I am so right wing! I love watching O'Reilly and Hannity. And am proud to be a Republican.

20. I detest bugs! lol I don't even care for butterflies. The wings are pretty, but did you ever see the middle? yuck! lol

Okay are you laughing? I can't even believe I told you all these things about me. But it's all true.

So now it's my turn to choose 14 lovely ladies. And they are.....

Debbie of Cozy Cottage Gifts and Decor

Janet of Beloved-Creations

Happy Memorial Day~

A Memorial Day Prayer~

Eternal God,Creator of years, of centuries,Lord of whatever is beyond time,Maker of all species and master of all history --How shall we speak to youfrom our smallness and inconsequence?Except that you have called us to worship youin spirit and in truth; You have dignified us with loves and loyalties; You have lifted us up with your lovingkindnesses. Therefore we are bold to come before you without groveling[though we sometimes feel that low]and without fear[though we are often anxious].We sing with spirit and pray with couragebecause you have dignified us;You have redeemed us from the aimlessnessof things' going meaninglessly well.God, lift the hearts of thosefor whom this holiday is not just diversion, but painful memory and continued deprivation.Bless those whose dear ones have diedneedlessly, wastefully [as it seems]in accident or misadventure. We remember with compassion those who have diedserving their countriesin the futility of combat. There is none of us but must come to bereavement and separation, when all the answers we are offeredfail the question death asks of each of us.We believe that you will provide for usas others have been provided with the fulfillment of"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

I want to wish each and everyone a very Happy Memorial Day. Pretty soon summer will be here and I truly hope it will be the best summer for all!~

Welcome to Show and Tell Monday!~

Happy Monday Everyone and welcome to Show and Tell!

I sure hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and all the wonderful mothers out there celebrated and enjoyed their special day. I sure had a fun time with my family.

I thought that for todays Show and Tell I would share a few photos. My family and I had a fun picnic over the weekend. We went to a park called Okeeheelee Park. This park is huge! Golf courses, lakes and plenty of grass for the kids to play. We also found a fun place to visit in the park. The Okeeheelee Park Nature Center. We saw all kinds of critters inside. Snakes, tarantulas, fish and more.

My two favorite were this adorable owl called Hooty and a blow fish. Hooty was the cutest owl I have seen in a long time. And the blow fish was adorable even though this picture does not do justice.

I also wanted to show you one of the Victorian Boots I have been working on. I just love the Victorian era. Those beautiful dresses, hats and things they wore were amazing to me. So I am working on a line of Victorian pillows. Hope you like this boot. It still needs more detail. I want to add black buttons to and a handle so you can hang it in your office or home.

Thanks so much for stopping by and please won't you take a moment or two to visit my pink sisters at Make Mine Pink to see the pretty things they will be sharing on their blogs today too?

I wish you all sunshine and roses.

See you next week!~

May Day Jar

Okay I have to admit that I had never heard of a May Day Basket. So Make Mine Pink was the reason I found out what this was all about.

Instead of a basket they decided to make it a May Day Jar.
May Day (May 1st) is celebrated in many places around the world. The traditions and stories surrounding May Day vary from place to place. There is, however, one thing that is similar in most celebrations - the use of Flowers!
One of the most popularly known May Day traditions is to hang a basket full of spring flowers and/or other small gifts on a neighbor's doorknob. The trick is you don't want the neighbor to see you! If you get caught, you are supposed to get a kiss.

So I thought I would share with you the May Day Jar I created for a contest being held at Make Mine Pink. Many of my pink sisters have created beautiful jars for this event.

Here is my jar all decorated. I hope you like it! If I get enough votes I would win this wonderful book by Martha Stewart called Encyclopedia of Crafts. Good Luck to me! lol

Pink Hugs,

Janet~
