Happy Tuesday!

I hope you are all enjoying your day. Everyday flies for me..lol. :D But that is a good thing. Better to be busy than not. And speaking of busy today I have 3 new dolls I just finished and want to share with you.

I have many more new pillows coming soon too. And more new fun things for Janet's Creative Pillows. So stay tuned.

Here are my latest dolls...

One doll is dressed in Steampunk style. One is Pretty in Pink. And the small one is a Pink Fairy. I have no names for them yet,but will be posting them to my site in the next few days. Along with other new pillows as I mentioned above. Sorry for the delay. I had a few glitches to fix on my site. You know how annoying that can be.

Featured in Soft Dolls and Animals Magazine March

It's really hard to believe that the holidays are behind us now; I often wonder where the days go. They sure do seem to fly for me. But I have to admit that I am really looking forward to a new year. I want to share some good news with all of you. My intent is not about bragging in any way.

I received a huge surprise after Christmas. I went to pick up my business mail at my P.O. box one evening and got the shock of my life. It might sound exaggerated, but I really was shocked. I had no idea this was going to happen. I contacted the editor of Soft Dolls Magazine and Animals and had asked her if she might be interested in featuring one of my dolls. I was elated when she replied and said yes. The only thing she needed were instructions and photos. And of course, one of my dolls needed to be sent to her so she could see it in person. I decided to send her my Doll of Hope, she's my favorite.

I thought that she would put my doll somewhere inside the magazine and that thought alone thrilled me. But when my husband Steve handed me the mail that day and said "here is a package for you", I was in for the surprise of my life. You see, this has been one of my dreams for a long time. I opened up the package with anticipation and couldn't believe my eyes. My Doll of Hope was on the cover of the magazine!! The instructions, pattern and even my photo are featured inside this issue.

OMG...I literally cried with joy. I couldn't believe it. She never told me that she was doing this. I work hard at my creations and put a lot of love in all of them, and knowing that someone thought I was good enough to be featured and thought to share my work is more than I can ever ask for.

I want to thank Kelly Philage, the Editor of Soft Dolls and Animals magazine, for helping make this possible. And of course I thank Scott Publications and all who helped make this possible. I am truly honored to be featured among so many talented artists in the March issue of Soft Dolls and Animals. My wish is to inspire and let you know that all things are possible with God. It's Christmas Eve! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. I'll be very busy today, baking a cake and making Christmas cookies with my family. We're going to go see some Christmas lights, then open our presents and watch the movie "It's a Wonderful Life", like we do every year.

Mad About Steampunk~

Welcome to my blog!

Where do the weeks go? I have been incredibly busy with many things lately and have not had alot of time to post on my blog so I hope you will forgive me. Believe me I love to blog and will be sharing new things soon. And I don't know about you,but I am really looking forward to Christmas and the New Year.

I have been working on new things and thought I would share. Lately I have had a passion for Steampunk. If you are not familiar with Steampunk it is a social movement characterized by
the the return of 19th Century fashion coupled with pre-modern imaginative technology. I would call it “Post-Retro Fashion.”

Here are the major themes of Steampunk Fashion: goggles,corsets,long gloves, tops hats,jewelry and more. Check out the pics I posted to get an idea of what steampunk is all about. I just love the goggles and top hat.

It's such a fun style. So I decided to create my own line of steampunk pillows. I plan to have other things in that style as well. I am thinking of cuffs and other fun things. If only I had more than two hands to do it all! lol But I will as soon as I can. Believe me I have a list of things to do.

Anyway I sure do hope you like the pillows I am posting today. I will be adding putting them up for sale this week. So keep your eyes peeled. ;-D

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I have been busy helping my parents move out of their townhouse and into their new apartment. Trust me when I say that I have been dying to post my new creations and more.

I say this often, but I really do love this time of the year. I am really enjoying preparing for the holidays and spending time with my family. I sure hope that all of you are too. There are so many people out there that are homeless, without jobs or going through a difficult time. So I truly do appreciate what I have. And I hope and pray that all those out there that are going through tough times that things get better for you and believe me when I say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The sun does come out again and it isn't always as bad as it seems. Just keep the faith and never give up on hope. God is watching over each one of us. And with him all things are possible.

I wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Try not to eat too much...lol Just enjoy yourself.

My next post will have new pillows. I can't wait to share!

Happy Columbus Day,Skeleton and Spiders oh my!

Happy Show and Tell Monday and Happy Columbus Day!

The Post Offices are closed and so are the banks. But my kids still had school today and hubby still had to go to work. ;-(

I hope that you had a great weekend and got some rest. I sure did even though I had plenty to do. The weather is perfect here in West Palm Beach, Florida. It's sunny and 78 degrees. So much better than 90! I am having fun decorating for Halloween. My kids really enjoy it too. We already got their costumes so they are all ready for some Trick or Treating.

I have pictures of some of my latest Halloween creations and a few pics of things I put in front of my home. Hope you enjoy them.

Here is a pic of the wreath I made for my front door. It was very easy to make. And who can resist a creepy bride skeleton to add a special touch..lol

I bought this big skeleton over the weekend and plan to dress him all up before I add him to the entrance of my home too. Creepy huh??

Pink October-Domestic Violence Awareness Month~

Ruffled Romance and Drab to Fab~

Welcome to my blog!

I am truly sorry for the long delay in posting. Our computer crashed recently and it caused alot of problems. The funny thing is that we were about to renew our anti-virus program when it happened. Go figure. It makes me angry to think that there are nerds out there that have nothing better to do than create viruses to do harm to others. What losers. :-P

Anyway I am back and dying to catch up on so many things. I have a few things to share. One is a trash to treasure project I worked on recently. I also have a few more dress forms to share and I have been working on cute ornaments for the holidays. Hope you enjoy them.

Here is a lamp I picked up at a flea market. I knew the instant that I saw it that I had to turn it from drab to fab!

I just love all things that have ruffles. I always have. The more frills the better. I made strips of white ruffles and sewed them together and onto the lamp shade. It was alot of work,but I am happy with the results.

Here is a dress form I finished last week. It's my first ruffled dress form. I will be listing this lovely for sale in my Little Pink Boutique at Make Mine Pink this week and will have more shortly. www.makeminepink.com

Here is a pic of how I turned a plain ornament into a pretty ornament. It's amazing how some bows,roses and lace can make a difference.

And here are a few ornaments I had fun working on. I added some handmade roses and some beaded tassle to the pink one. The other one has vintage lace,faux cream colored Dupioni silk roses and sheer white ribbon bows. The third ornament was dipped in glitter.

It has a sheer pink bow in the front with a cute faux diamond buckle. I think it adds a nice touch. I have more to make and will decide if I should keep them or sell them. Hmmm...decisions, decisions..lol

A bit of Shabby Victorian~

Happy Wednesday and welcome to my blog!

I hope that you are all having a great week so far. I am constantly amazed at how fast the days go by. In a few days September 11th will arrive. I still can't believe all the horrible things that happened that day,but on a brighter note it's a gorgeous day here in West Palm Beach and I am grateful. Everything looks so green and beautiful.

I meant to post my latest creations yesterday,but got caught up on several things and next thing you know the day was gone. So I hope you will forgive me.

I have two little things to share. One is a shabby victorian/quilt style pillow. It was all done by hand. I used several pretty pieces of fabric ,lace and buttons. It's hard to see the detail,but there is a victorian dress in the center,a victorian shoe, victorian boot all sewn into the fabric. It's definitely a one of a kind. And it is listed for sale in my Little Pink Boutique if you are interested in purchasing this lovely pillow.

I also have a new pink rose dress form. This is also all done by hand. Happy Tuesday Everyone and Welcome to my Blog!

So sorry I have not posted much lately. I had alot of personal matters to take care of and wasn't able to create as much as I would have liked to. But I am back!

I have a few things to share and hope that you enjoy them. My latest creation is another cloth doll. I just can't help making dolls. They are so much fun to make. I decided to make one dressed with a bit of elegance. She reminds me of a mix between Dolly Parton except without the B......Bs and Joan Rivers..lol And of course I would name her Dolly. ;-) She is all dressed in a long black beaded dress. Her shoes match her outfit. She has long black gloves and a silver bracelet and silver necklace. She really is cute if I may say so myself. :-p Hope you like her. I will be adding her to my Janet's Creative Pillows boutique at Make Mine Pink in the next couple of days. special.

I can't believe that September is upon us and before you know it Christmas. How time flies! So I am creating many different holiday ornaments. Here is a pic of a bunch of Victorian shaped boots. I will be listing them very soon. I need to add a few more touches to each boot and off they go. Hope you like them.

Happy Show and Tell Monday!

It's a rainy day here in West Palm Beach. I'm glad; we needed it badly. I sure hope that Texas is getting some rain. They're also in need of rain.

I have two things to share for Show and Tell Monday. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to the fall, especially the holidays. Halloween is one of my favorites. I love to see kids dress up & have fun. Although I can do without all that candy..lol

I am adding a new doll to my Janet's Creative Dolls Collection. Her name is Vickie. She's a Halloween doll. As you can see, she is dressed in the colors of Halloween. My daughter wants me to make a vampire doll, so I'm thinking of making that my next doll. She's now listed for sale, although I hate to part with her...lol Don't you just hate it when you create something and then don't want to sell it and keep it for yourself?? lol But it's okay, I have enough dolls in my house. ;-)

The next thing I want to share is a lavender pillow. It has a patch of fabric with a pretty lady embroidered in the center. She's holding lavender faux roses and has a lace trim on the bottom of her skirt.

Christmas in July Show and Tell Monday~

Happy Monday and Happy Show and Tell!

I am a bit late in posting my show and tell for today. But all for a good reason. I had several orders to finish and ship. I hope that all of you had a lovely weekend. I say this every week,but it is true. I am enjoying every minute of summer. My kids are off from school and I love spending time with them and sleeping a bit more too..lol

Anyway I have two things to share. A very sweet lady named Rosie Murray of Slumber Parties by Rosie purchased an art pillow that I created. www.slumberpartiesbyrosie.com Even though I have never met her in person and only did business with her online. I feel as if I have known her forever. She was the sweetest. And was even kind enough to send me a photo of her daughters bedroom with the pillow she purchased from me on display. It is the one with three ladies handpainted on the pillow. I have always had a passion for art so it is so nice to know someone out there is enjoying it. I have to say her taste in colors are beautiful and her daughters room is gorgeous too. Thanks a million Rosie!

Angel, Hearts, Dress Forms and Roses~

Happy Show and Tell and welcome to my blog!

It's not really Monday yet,but I thought I would get a head start anyway. I have a ton of sewing to do this coming week so posting my show and tell a day earliers will give more time to create. I hope you don't mind. :-)

I hope that all the sweet dads out there had a great Father's Day. My sweet father is in New York visiting my sister so I wasn't able to spend the day with him,but that it okay. I am glad my sis got to spend the day with him. I had another really nice weekend once again. The weather was gorgeous and I had a fun time with my family. Did lots of shopping too.

I have several things to share today. To start with I have a new angel cloth doll that I am adding to my collection called Janet's Creative Dolls. Her name is Angelica.She is dressed like an angel all in white and she even has fluffy wings. It was so much fun to make her. I will be adding her to my boutique at Make Mine Pink http://www.makeminepink.com/boutiques/janets-creative-pillows.aspx?page=1 and also my site for sale this week. So keep your eyes peeled. ;-)

I was in the mood to create hearts last week so I made several pink heart shaped pillows that you can hang anywhere in your home or office. I happen to love displaying them on an armoire or a doorknob. They are very cute. Hope you like them.

I am happy to announce that I am now going to offer handmade satin roses in different colors. Such as pink,light blue,orange,red,lavender,white and much more. They are perfect for sewing on to fabric or you can even use them on craft projects for those of you that want to hot glue them on instead of sewing them on to something. Here are samples of the roses. They will be listed in my shop this coming week as well.

Happy Show and Tell Monday and welcome to my blog!

It's so nice of you to stop by. I was a busy bee all of last week. My kids are off from school, and I am enjoying every minute with them. But, I still find time to create the things I love.

Art has always been a big passion of mine, so I handpainted two art pillows. One is ballerina-themed and the other is called Lady Snow because her hair is white. The pillow has lots of glitter so it looks even prettier in person.

I also made a ballerina cloth doll. She was so much fun to make. She is all pretty in pink. And I had fun working on a trash-to-treasure project, as you will see below. I found a black old little fold-up chair and just had to pretty it up. You will see the before and after pics. Hope you like it all! ;-)It's amazing to me how pretty fabric and pink paint can do to transform something ugly into something pretty.

Another weekend has gone by. Hope it was good for all of you. I have to say that my weekend was great. I got a lot of rest and did quite a lot of things I have been wanting to do. I have 3 new pillows to share.

Truthfully told it does come from the Queen Victorian Era, 'Something Old' to represent our Ancestors, and 'Something New' to represent the good futuristic outlook of the Bride.Today I see these meanings represent a Lifestyle in which we live with Home Accents and Apparel, Accessories in which we wear.The mere words, Re~Purpose, Re~Create, Re~use are used today describing Items made from Cherished pieces of the past. As I look around my own home, the Cupcakes Stands on my Buffet made from Cut Glass Candlesticks from a Estate Sale. Topped with Vintage China Bread & Butter Plates passed down from my Great Grandmother, make a lovely statement alongside a Crystal Pedestal Serving Plate I received as a gift at my own Wedding. My Powder Room Window Valance I made from Vintage Handkerchiefs full of Pink Roses, with leftover pieces I added to White Towels to complement the room.On my Telephone Table lay a Clipboard covered with Vintage Wallpaper that adds a pop of color to the recently re~purposed old Vintage Table. In creamy Whites with a fine sanding for a chippy shabby look but yet a clean looking piece of Furniture.Wearing a Pendent made from a piece of Vintage Broken China encased in Silver, and my Sundress made from Vintage Linens, embellished with pieces of Vintage Lace. Comfortable, delicate, and pretty for a hot Summer day.As I look around my home, eying the pieces that grace my day~all useable, functional. Remembering Our Heroes~

On Memorial Day I want to remember all the heroes who have fought for our freedom and are no longer here with us. And I also want to remember those that continue to fight for our freedom. They are truly incredible individuals and I admire them all. May God bless them.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We needed rain real bad here in West Palm and thankfully got some over the weekend. I had a lovely weekend so no complaints from me. :-)

God really does put beautiful things for us to see and sometimes we forget they are there. ;-)

You know what time is? It's Show and Tell Time! I say this all the time,but can't help to say that the week goes way to fast does't it? I sure hope you had a great weekend. I am so glad that there is one less enemy in the world today. It will not change what happened on September 11th,but we can all least feel some comfort in knowing that Osama will not be around to attack us again.

Steampunk Show and Tell Monday~

Welcome to my blog and a big Happy Monday to you all!

Hope your Easter weekend was great. I had a fun time spending time with my family and ate a few too many chocolate bunnies..lol Guess I will have to work out double starting today. ;-)

For todays Show and Tell Monday I have a few things to share. One of my favorite things to do is to enter swap events. I recently entered a swap at Creative Souls. http://creativesouls.ning.com/ing.com/ They are a fun talented group so it isn't surprising that I love this place.

The swap is called "Steampunk Swap". In case you don't know what this word means here is the definition: Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, frequently featuring elements of fantasy, that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The most common historical steampunk settings are the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

I also have two pillows to show you. I found this pretty Parisian design fabric and just had to make a pillow out of it. I love all the different colors and the trim adds a nice touch. I decided that I will be adding different colors to my lip pillow collection. Here is the latest shade of Orange/Coral. Sorry the pic isn't great. But you get the idea. :-)

I sure hope that you had a great weekend. No complaints from me. I had a lovely weekend. I went shopping, did alot of house cleaning ,sewing and got plenty of rest.

I have a few things to share with you today. I am so in love with all things that remind me of the victorian era that I can't help creating more dress forms and sachets.

I have two beautiful wedding dress form pillows. And I also have a few yummy lavender sachet victorian shaped boots. All these items are handmade. Each dress has alot of detail.

Show and Tell Goth Monday~

Welcome to my blog and Happy Monday to you all. I hope you had a great weekend. Last week was great for me since my kids were on Spring Break. Went to the Zoo, did some shopping, got rest and did alot of sewing too.

Now what would Florida be without flamingos? They are such beautiful birds.

I do not like Komodo Dragons,but just had to snap a photo to show you. They are so creepy. And they are very dangerous.

I am quite used to seeing alligators here in Florida. Thank goodness they are no where near my home...lol Yuck!

I had to snap a pic of a white alligator. Yes, it's real. They keep him in a dark room since he cannot be in daylight. It's an albino alligator. Sorry the pic isn't great,but it was the best that I could do.

We came across a beautiful cat. Well not exactly a kitty,but it looked like a mix of a cat and leopard. I can't remember the name of this beautiful animal,but I had to share.

There was a fantastic bridge there that reminded me of Jurrasic Park. Like any minute a giant dinosaur would pop out..lol

And finally here is a doll I created last week. Remember I promised to show you an after pic? I named her Gothic Raven. My daughter kept asking me to make a goth doll for fun. I love the color black so how could I say no. She is posable which makes her more fun. Her dress is black sequence,black tulle,hot pink roses,lace stockings,black boots with hot pink lace. Her hair is from an actual wig. And I handpainted her face. Hope you like her. I will be making more dolls soon. I am trying to decide if I should sell her or not. Hmm.....decisions,decisions..lol

I am a member of Creative Souls. http://creativesouls.ning.com/ And what a fun place this is. So many creative and talented people there. I love it. Angela Kennedy who is the founder of this site always makes it fun. I signed up for a dress from swap a couple of weeks ago. And I was lucky to get her as my swap partner. And heaven knows how much I love dress forms..lol This was a card dress form swap.

Here is a picture of what she sent me. I love it! And she even sent me an extra lovely gift. She sent me pretty lace. I can always use pretty lace and can never get enough of it. Thank you so much Angela! I will treasure the dress from card and thank you so much for the lace. xo

The second thing I thought I would share is one of the things I promised to post last week. I have an after pic of the Spring Easter wreath I worked on last week. I added ruffles,eggs with glitter,a bunny,a handmade pink carrot and lots of pretty roses. My front door is black so thankfully the colors stand out. I hope you like it.

A Few Things To Share~

Welcome to my blog! I sure hope everyone is enjoying the day. It's gorgeous here in West Palm Beach,Florida. I wanted to show you a few things I am going to be working on this week. I just can't keep myself from creating. I have my first cloth doll with wiring inside. It was tricky,but not difficult to do. I plan to dress this doll and handpaint the face so I can share it with all of you.

I also found the cutest half porcelain doll at a thrift store last week and knew instantly that I had to add some legs and then dress her up. I will be share her once she is done.

Spring is almost here so I decided to make my own Easter wreath for my front door. Here is the before pic. I will be working on it this week as well so I can post the after pic and show you.

And I also wanted to share one more thing. I will be interviewed on Blog Talk Radio by a very sweet lady named Lauri Medley who is a full-time professor at Sacramento City College (SCC) in Sacramento, California for over 11 years. Prior to coming to SCC, she taught as an adjunct professor at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento for 2 ½ years. She holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, a Bachelor's degree in Vocational Education, an Associate of Science degree in Management Information Systems, and certificates in Online Teaching and College Counseling. She has also been a presenter at several workshops and local high school career day events. Lauri has also published a wonderful book called Virtual Entrepreneurship: Creating and Operating a Home-based Online Business. Happy Valentine's Day!

I love everything about this day. Couples everywhere in love. Some are getting engaged on Valentine's Day. Some get married and some are enjoying chocolate hearts and Teddy Bears.

But it's not just a day for lovers. I think it's a day to tell those that you love how much they mean to you. I love to give something special to my kids,my parents and especially my hubby. I think for us it's Valentine's Day all year. I have my prince and couldn't ask for anything more.

We had our civil cermony in City Hall,New York City and also had a wedding. That was on June 22, 1991. I remember it like it was yesterday. ;-)

I won a Blue Ribbon at the South Florida Fair!

It's Monday,but I am happy after being sick all of last week. My kids,hubby and I including my elderly parents all came down with a bug. I guess it's that time of the year. I haven't been sick all year so it got us. But anyway we are all feeling back to normal again and am ready for more creating.

For todays Show and Tell Monday I have a few things to share. Over the weekend we went to the South Florida Fair Expo. I look forward to going there every year. So much to do and so much to see. Oh and lots of good food too..lol

I entered the Craft and Skills Competition at the last minute. I figured that it would be fun to be apart of so many creative people. When I got there on Saturday I was very surprised. I found a First Prize Blue Ribbon on my Queen Victoria Dress Pillow. What an honor. I am so grateful and want to thank Lorie Stinson who is in charge of the exhibit. Here are a few pics....

The fair was so much fun. We even got to see bunnies. And even posed as astronauts ..lol

One of the most amazing things I did not expect to see there was a piece of one of the Twin Towers on display. When I saw it my eyes filled up with tears.

I still can't believe those towers are gone and what happened that day will remain in my memory forever.

And finally I wanted to share a gift I received from a very dear friend named Francie of The Scented Cottage. http://www.thescentedcottage.com/ She sent me the cutest cookie cutter ever. Sweet Hearts for Sale~

So happy the sun is back and the skies are blue again here in Florida. It was so gloomy the past few days. And last night we got tornado warnings and heavy wind and rain. But thank God it's all gone now.

I came down with a bug,but am starting to feel better now. I have so much I want to create. I have a bunch of mini heart pillows that I will be posting for sale by no later than the end of this week. I have been my usual busy self. I want to add new pillows this year so I am trying my best to get it done as quickly as possible. I just finished a heart pillow. It's a pretty beige color with white ruffled trim ,faux roses and button in the center. I will be adding that to my shop.

I just can't get enough of Victorian dresses or dress forms so I also have some mini lavender dress forms I am working on,but not finished as you can see in the pics,but wanted to share them anyway. They need more detail.

And I also have a fruit pillow to share. A banana! lol I think most of us love bananas so I thought I would add that one to my collection of food pillows.

Welcome to my blog! I sure hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. I had a great time with my family and ate alot of good food. I think I will start another diet right after the New Year begins. It's just impossible to not eat during this time..lol

Anyway I still work on creating new things even during the holidays. So for todays Show and Tell Monday I have 3 things to share. I have a new pretty pink heart shaped pillow for Valentine's Day and making many more. After all Valentine's Day is around the corner so I want to be prepared. The next thing I want to share is my latest Pretty in Pink Doll. I call her Dotty because she has white dots on her outfit. :-)

And the last thing I have to share is my latest Dress pillow. It's all pink and frilly. It's another Victorian design. It has alot of detail. Pink feathers,faux pink beads,satin bows,vintage pink lace,vintage beige lace,tulle and handmade roses. So if you have a shabby pink office you can have it there as a decorative display or you can even hang it because I have a lace handle on it as well.

It finally feels like Christmas in Florida. It's going to drop to 30 degrees and I am thrilled.

I am truly a winter girl. I've been super busy creating lately so I thought I would share for Show and Tell Monday at Make Mine Pink.

I have a few after pics of the table set I promised to show you once it was done. I handpainted Victorian ladies. On each chair I painted a boy and a girl dressed in the Victorian era. I wanted this table to be pretty so I think the pink with the mix of soft colors really pops out. Of course it's hard to appreciate in a photo. I also want to share a few pics of my two trees at home. One is a dark emerald green and one is a beautiful white feathered tree which a very dear friend of mine gave me. Look at the gorgeous bottom painted with roses and there is beautiful glitter which makes it sparkle. And finally a few pics of some of my favorite ornaments.

Happy Monday Everyone!

I sure hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend. I had a really nice weekend. Putting up my outdoor decor and enjoying the cold weather here in Florida. I guess I can't help being a New Yorker at heart. I just love cold weather. ;-)

I have been super busy with orders and creating new things as fast as my hand can make them. So I want to share a few things with you today.

For Show and Tell Monday I want to show you my very first hotdog pillow. A client ordered it for her 2 year old son. I will be adding that to my collection of food pillows. The second thing I have to share is my latest art pillow. I handpainted three victorian ladies. It's really prettier in person. I thought I would make it shine so I added pretty pink glitter. It's all permanent paint so it won't rub off. I will be adding this pillow to my shop as well.

And finally I have a trash to treasure project I am working on. It's a cute little table and it doesn't look bad now,but I want to make it even prettier. Here is the before pic.

I Love My Ornament Swap Gift!

I hope everyone had a fun Thanksgiving.

I loved spending time with my family and eating yummy food. What more can one ask for? I have a ton of things to do today. Lots of orders to fulfill and still decorating at home for Christmas.

Today I want to share the most wonderful gift I received in the mail the other day. It is from a sweet and dear pink sister at Make Mine Pink. Her name is Celestina Marie of Celestina Marie Designs http://larearose.blogspot.com/ Isn't that a pretty name? I can't even begin to express how much I enjoyed opening up the box and drooling at everything she sent me. You can see how hard she worked on sending me this beautiful gift. She wrapped it in gorgeous pink paper with all Paris designs on it. Such as the magnificent Eiffel Tower. She added a pretty pink rose wrapped in sheer fabric which she turned into a bow. I just couldn't wait to open it up. Inside she added pink petals. I saw the cutest and sweetest handmade snowman ever. It's adorable.

I am so going to display that one on my white feather tree. Then I found this beautiful bottle which she embellished with so much beauty. She also sent me beautiful tags with Santa on them. I just adore my gift so much. Thank you Celestina. I loved it all and will always treasure it. xoxo

I Can't Believe that it is Monday again~

Is it really Monday again? They just come around so fast. I think as we get older the days ,months and years just roll by to fast. I hope that all of you had a good weekend. It's a beautiful sunny day today.

For todays Show and Tell Monday I have two items to share that I will be adding to my Little Pink Boutiques today.

The first one is my latest Victorian boot. It's made with black satin fabric. It has black and pink roses on top with beautiful pink ruffles around the top of the boot. I also added cute pink buttons and tied the front with pink satin ribbon. The top has a lace handle so you can display it anywhere in your home.

The second pillow was easy peasy to make. It is 14 x14. It is made with a beautiful aqua colored cotton fabric with pretty pink rose designs on it. I have 4 of them. They are called Cottage Roses.

That's all for today. I will be busy getting ready to be in a Craft Show this coming weekend. Can't wait.

Happy Veteran's Day~Let's Remember Our Heroes

Some of you may have seen the photo above – it is from a Veteran’s Day ceremony in 2004. This photo does not need words. Just looking at the way this older gentleman is hugging a Marine brings tears to my eyes. This older gentleman is a Pearl Harbor survivor. The caption reads: “Pearl Harbor survivor Houston James of Dallas is overcome with emotion as he embraces former Marine SSgt Mark Graunke, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas during the Dallas Veterans Day Commemoration Thursday at Dallas City Hall. SSgt Graunke, Jr., who was a member of a Marine ordnance-disposal team, lost a hand, leg, and eye while defusing a bomb in Iraq in July of last year.”

Let's take a minute or two today to remember the heroes who served out country. I am so proud of each and everyone of them. Let's pray for their families and pray for peace. And remember that today is not just any day,but a special one. ;-)

Happy Show and Tell Monday!

It's another crispy cool day here in Florida and I am loving it like you would not believe. It reminds me of New York. I even wore my high heeled boots today. Woo hoo! Feels great. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I have two things to share. One is a pillow I finished over the weekend . It is a beautiful light blue color with pink rose designs,vintage lace and a cute vintage white button. I will be adding this pillow to my shop this week. And the other thing I want to share is a pic of a doll I found at a thrift store. I couldn't believe how unexpensive it was! The doll is about 40 years old. I love this doll! I plan to redo her hair. Maybe give her some curls and put it up. We'll see. Or maybe I should just leave her as she is.

Yay! I am doing the happy dance. The cool weather has finally arrived here in West Palm Beach,Florida. We have 62 degrees right now. It will be going up to 70,BUT will drop to 52 tonight! Woo Hoo! I love it. Having lived in New York City all my life I can't help ,but love cold weather. Even my hair loves it..lol

My kids are looking forward to dressing up in their costumes and trick or treating. I always check every single piece of candy they receive. Better safe than sorry. I thought I would post the History of Halloween so you can all read how it started.

The Story of Halloween~

Halloween is one of the oldest holidays with origins going back thousands of years. The holiday we know as Halloween has had many influences from many cultures over the centuries. From the Roman's Pomona Day, to the Celtic festival of Samhain, to the Christian holidays of All Saints and All Souls Days.
Hundreds of years ago in what is now Great Britain and Northern France, lived the Celts. The Celts worshipped nature and had many gods, with the sun god as their favorite. It was "he" who commanded their work and their rest times, and who made the earth beautiful and the crops grow.

The Celts celebrated their New Year on November 1st. It was celebrated every year with a festival and marked the end of the "season of the sun" and the beginning of "the season of darkness and cold."
On October 31st after the crops were all harvested and stored for the long winter the cooking fires in the homes would be extinguished. The Druids, the Celtic priests, would meet in the hilltop in the dark oak forest (oak trees were considered sacred). The Druids would light new fires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals. As they danced around the the fires, the season of the sun passed and the season of darkness would begin.
When the morning arrived the Druids would give an ember from their fires to each family who would then take them home to start new cooking fires. These fires would keep the homes warm and free from evil spirits.
The November 1st festival was called Samhain (pronounced "sow-en"). The festival would last for 3 days. Many people would parade in costumes made from the skins and heads of their animals. This festival would become the first Halloween.
During the first century the Romans invaded Britain. They brought with them many of their festivals and customs. One of these was the festival know as Pomona Day, named for their goddess of fruits and gardens. It was also celebrated around the 1st of November. After hundreds of years of Roman rule the customs of the Celtic's Samhain festival and the Roman Pomona Day mixed becoming 1 major fall holiday.
The next influence came with the spread of the new Christian religion throughout Europe and Britain. In the year 835 AD the Roman Catholic Church would make November 1st a church holiday to honor all the saints. This day was called All Saint's Day, or Hallowmas, or All Hallows. Years later the Church would make November 2nd a holy day. It was called All Souls Day and was to honor the dead. It was celebrated with big bonfires, parades, and people dressing up as saints, angels and devils.
But the spread of Christianity did not make people forget their early customs. On the eve of All Hallows, Oct. 31, people continued to celebrate the festivals of Samhain and Pomona Day. Over the years the customs from all these holidays mixed. October 31st became known as All Hallow Even, eventually All Hallow's Eve, Hallowe'en, and then - Halloween.
The Halloween we celebrate today includes all of these influences, Pomona Day's apples, nuts, and harvest, the Festival of Samhain's black cats, magic, evil spirits and death, and the ghosts, skeletons and skulls from All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day.

Happy Birthday to my Sweet Mom~

Today is my mothers 84th Birthday. Her name is Laura. I am so happy and proud to have a mom like her. She has taught me so much from the time that I was born until this very day. I thank God that she is doing well. She is very talented. Very creative and loves to cook. I guess I got the talent from her because cooking is not a favorite for me..lol

Anyway I just want to share a few pics of her ,my older sis who unfortunately passed away from cancer in 1997 . And I am the little chubby one in the photos. ;-0 ;-P

Happy Birthday to My Dear Sweet Dad~

Today is my dear sweet Father's 92nd Birthday. I just want everyone to know that I am grateful to have him. He is healthy and strong for his age and I hope that I have inherited his genes so that I can live to be his age too.

Here is a picture of him. He looks like he is in the Mafia right? lol No he was never in the Mafia..lol He always wore hats and still does to this day. He loves suits and ties too. He had a mustache then,but not anymore. My dad has a great sense of humor and loves to think positive. I think that those are excellent qualities to have. I love him dearly and pray that he will be around forever.

If you ask Janet Bernasconi what her favorite time period is, don’t be surprised when she declares that it is the Victorian era. This era holds a special place in her heart because it represents a timeless style. The Victorian period was a simpler, more elegant time when style and fashion, class and sophistication ruled. The Victorians dressed in all manners of finery and showed that clothes did indeed make the man, as well as gave ladies a sense of royalty.

Janet Bernasconi, owner and designer of the online boutique, Janet’s Creative Pillows, pays tribute to this time with Victorian Memories, a collection of intricately designed boot and dress-shaped pillows that recall these days.

Janet started her business designing and creating dress pillows. What soon developed was a veritable cornucopia of handmade products, including inspirational, holiday, art, and pet items, among others. Most importantly, Victorian era chic became a personal goal for her. Janet says, “Why not take the style of the past to define a style for the future?” Whether it is in the grand style of a Victorian dress, or beautifully designed boots and shoes, there is something available for even the most discriminating buyer. In addition, there are mixed media pillows that recall this fascinating time and hearken back to a simpler yet elegant era.
When asked why it is so passionate to her, she said, “Today’s society takes the things for granted that meant so much long ago. There was respect for one another and people put emphasis on style.”
What started as a devotion to a time gone by, became a mission to take yesterday’s class and style, then give it a modern spin. Each creation is handmade and hand-sewn by Janet and shows attention to detail whether it is in the small fabric rose embellishments on a boot, a simple bow or touch of lace on a shoe, or the symbolic look of a Victorian dress where the lace trim adds a touch of class. Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a good one so no complaints from me. Time for Show and Tell Monday!

Welcome to my blog and Happy Monday to all of you!

Mondays sure do roll around way too quick don't they? But I can't complain. It's sunny and blue skies here in Florida. And you know that in Florida it's bug central..lol. Last week my son and I were sitting in the car waiting for my daughter to come out of school when suddenly this dragonfly flew and stopped at the very end of my car antenna. It wouldn't leave for the longest time. And kept flying away only to come back and land there again. My son got a kick out of it. So here is a pic of what we saw.

I promised my son I would share the dragonfly. ;-)

The other thing I wanted to share for Show and Tell Monday are a few more of my "Witchy Boots "for Halloween. I have to finish the top of each boot and still need to add a few more words. Then I can list them tomorrow. I thought it would be fun to add creepy words to each boot. ;-o

My Marie Antoinette Dress Pillow~

When I first saw the cover of Creating Vintage Charm magazine I just knew it would be beautiful. Sonia Crouse who is the owner of this gorgeous magazine was looking for artists and other creative people to publish in her magazine. How could I pass up such a wonderful offer?? I hoped that she would like one of my creations. So I submitted a few pics of my work and was truly excited when she picked one of my Victorian Marie Antoinette dress pillows.

I am not bragging ,but simply thankful for this wonderful chance to be in such a dreamy magazine. Sonia has a good eye for beautiful things. And so I would like to share the pillow she chose to feature.

Creating Vintage Charm Launch Party!

I'm late ,I'm late for a very important date! I thought I would be home earlier,but just got home. But better late than never right?

It's time to partaaay!

Okay I am honored to be apart of this party. This is a party to celebrate the launch of a beautiful and I mean beautiful magazine called Creating Vintage Charm. This gorgeous magazine was created by Sonia Crouse. And I am also excited because I have one of my Marie Antoinette dress pillows featured in her magazine! Woo hoo! Thank you Sonia for allowing me to be in this wonderful magazine. I truly appreciate it.

So let the party begin! I have a few pics to show you of some pretty vintage things I own....

I will start with my vintage doll collection. I am so proud of these sweet dolls. I guess I can't help being a kid inside. My mother has always had a passion for dolls too. The first doll you see below is about 50 years old. It belonged to a little girl in France. Her mother gave gave it to my mother many years ago. And my sweet mother gave it to me when my darling daughter was born. The dress is handmade. I take such good care of it. Look at how sweet she is. A sleeping baby. The other dolls you see below are also vintage dolls. Some of them are from when I was a child and the rest I have been collecting over the years. :-)

This is a so special to me. My sweet mother gave it to me recently. It's a beautiful set of china that is at least 40 years old. I love the details and will treasure it always.~

Here is a fun faux fur piece for the neck. My mother is so good to me. She gave this to me as well.

I think it's fabulous. I can picture it with a beautiful black coat. ;-)

Here is another stunning handbag my mother gave me a few years ago. She said it is at least 40 years old. It looks victorian to me. Black happens to be my favorite color. It's hard to see the details of this purse,but it's truly gorgeous. ~
